NOISY BIT !!!

MANX 2003

TCR Motorsport, or Toyota Corolla Rallying, was formed when Brian bought an AE86 Corolla, Registration No. A311 TCR.
It's obvious from the Reg. No. where we got the name from!

MANX 2003

Brian bought A311 TCR in 1999, to replace 'Tina' which had finally given up the ghost after another ''big off'' on Otterburn, in 1998.
It was prepared in Road Rally spec.when he got it, so a lot of the work had already been done....... or so he thought!
The car was a nightmare!
It had to be completeley stripped and totally rebuilt from scratch.

The cars preparation was all done by Brian, with help from Wynne, and the boys from Swansea College who were on the Motorsport Engineering Course.
The engine was a more or less standard Toyota, Twin-cam 1598cc 16 valve unit.
A special Bellhousing was bought so we could fit the Quaife 5 speed Gearbox from 'Tina', together with the AP Racing twin plate clutch.
The AP Racing Brakes were adapted from the Cortina to fit, as was the Alloy Fuel Tank, and a few other bits and pieces.
The standard 4.8:1 L.S.D. was used, and a bias peddle box was fitted.
The car runs on 7X13 Superlite wheels and Dunlop Racing tyres.

This was as far as Brian got with 'EV0 1', as it had a ''BIG'' accident on the West Cork Rally in 2000, which destroyed the left front corner.
It took the best part of a year, and a new shell, to get it ready for it's next event.

'EVO 2' has had a lot more kit fitted:
6 speed sequencial gearbox,
Special hi-compression pistons,
Uprated cams,
Jenvey direct injection system,
MBA Management system with, launch control & full throttle gearchange,
270mm front discs, AP Racing 4 Pot front & 2 Pot rear calipers,
Large bore 4-2-1,Stainless Exhaust manifold, with side exit system,
Coilover front and rear, Bilstein shock absorbers, rose jointed  track control, and steering arms.
Kevlar wings, bonnet & rear tail-gate are fitted together with perspex windows,to save weight.
The engine has had a complete re-build by our pet 'boffin' Ian, who has a wealth of experience in the race car industry.
It now has a full spec.head and cams,by Richard Macer, producing around 190 BHP.

This has brought out another problem,as due to the extra power, the halfshafts can no longer cope!!!
To cure this,Brian has fitted a 'Baby'Atlas
axle,with a 5:1 ZF L.S.D.

The car has the latest FIA spec., safety features fitted:
Sabelt,4 inch 6 point harness seatbelts,
Sparco EVO 2 Kevlar seats,
Peltor intercom system,
Terratrip 4 Rally computer,
AFFF electronic trigger, fire extinguiser system.

The car is looked after on events by Andrew and Mike, with help from Jamie.
The Engine is Tuned by 'The Magician', Ian.
